DIY "Be Kind" Floral Drop Cloth Banner

This Sizzix Design Team post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  For me, the summer is officially over. (Insert sad face)  In my school district, teachers went back to work Tuesday, so I'm busy prepping for the brand new school year.  I met some of my students at open house, and they seemed like a great bunch of tenth graders, so I hope that we're going to have a great, productive year of learning together.  One thing I always like to do at the beginning of the new school year is make some new decorations for my classroom, so last week I whipped up an easy-to-make banner.  Today I'm sharing the tutorial with you in case you'd like to make one yourself.
DIY Be Kind Drop Cloth Banner
I wanted my banner to be a reminder to my students to always be kind to one another because, y'all, sometimes tenth graders can be MEAN.  But with that being said, the really fun thing about the banner is that you can put any phrase on it you want and embellish it anyway you want to have a piece of decor that is uniquely you.

Handmade Mason Jar Shaker Card

Hey, y'all!  If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that I LOVE all things sparkly.  I've recently seen some different crafters make shaker cards--cards with a clear window housing sequins and glitter and other bits and bobs that sparkle like nobody's business when you shake them.  I have been dying to try making one myself.  When I looked through my newest Sizzix dies, I saw the mason jar Bigz die just screaming to be made into a shaker, so today I'm going to show you how I made my sparkly shaker card dreams come true!

Hey, y'all!  Are you into the whole planner craze?  I want to be, but I struggle with organization quite often.  What can I say?  It's just not my strong-suit.  But I do love Bible journaling as I'm sure you know (especially if you follow me on Instagram).  I love that lots of little bits and bobs that are used by planner fanatics can be used in Bible journaling as well.  My favorite?  Planner clips!  I use planner clips in my planner and in my journaling Bible.  I recently made some really fun paper flower planner clips, and I want to show you how you can quickly and easily make some for yourself.

Be Kind Embroidery Hoop Art

This post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  I have a fun project to share with you today that can be made quickly and VERY easily!  I don't know about you, but I try to live a life of kindness.  Yes, I fail at this often, but it doesn't take that much extra effort to be kind to someone, and your being kind to someone can have a huge impact on the course of that person's day.  I decided to create a fun piece of embroidery hoop art to remind me (and anyone who sees the art) to be kind!
You would be surprised how quickly you can whip up a piece of embroidery hoop art like this, and you only need a few supplies.
Supplies:
The first step to creating the art is to cut the felt letters.  That's so easy to do with the Sizzix BIGkick and Bigz dies.  Place a piece of felt cut to size on top of your Bigz die.  Sandwich that between a pair of Standard Size Cutting Pads and roll it through your Sizzix BIGkick.
Repeat this as many times as necessary until you get all the letters needed for your phrase.
After you place your fabric inside your embroidery hoop and trim off the excess, glue the felt letters and pom pom trim to the fabric using fabric glue and/or hot glue to complete your art.
Add the completed hoop to a small grouping of art for a mini-gallery wall or hang it alone for a pop of color.  Make the art any size you'd like by using different size embroidery hoops or sew a banner to attach the felt letters to for a whole different look.  Whatever type of art you decide to create, you can do it quickly and easily, which is the beauty of this tutorial!

Handmade Tasseled Tag Bookmark

This Sizzix Design Team post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  Happy 2016!  Sorry that I dropped off the face of the earth for a bit there.  I was simply enjoying my winter break, and then when school started back, I had lots of papers to grade before the end of the nine weeks.  But I'm back today and ready to share a great tutorial with you.  Y'all know that I ADORE Bible journaling.  What you don't know is that sometimes I use my Sizzix BIGkick and various dies to help me illustrate some of my entries.  Recently, I decided that I wanted to create a tasseled bookmark for my journaling Bible, so I used some scrapbook paper, yarn, and some of my Sizzix supplies to create a lovely Handmade Tasseled Tag Bookmark.

I love the sentiment on this tag: "Seek Him with your Whole Heart."  It comes from the beginning of Psalms 119, and it perfectly captures what I attempt to do when I'm Bible journaling: seek God with my whole heart.

Creative Gift Giving: Earring Holder Card

Hey, y'all!  I love to give jewelry as gifts to people.  This could be because I love jewelry myself or maybe because you can often get pretty jewelry pieces inexpensively if you know where to shop or you find a deal.  But often those inexpensive jewelry pieces don't have cute packaging, and sometimes the packaging even states the price you paid for the jewelry.  My latest post on the Sizzix blog shows you how to whip up some pretty "packaging" for  those inexpensive jewelry pieces, specifically inexpensive earrings.

How to Easily Make Inexpensive Handmade Decorative Planner Clips

This post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  Are you into the whole planner craze that's been happening for a while now?  I have a planner, but I wouldn't consider myself a planner girl.  (I want to be, but I'm just not all that organized.)  Y'all know I love Bible journaling though, and I love that lots of things that you can use for planners can be used in journaling Bibles as well.  When looking at supplies for both, I have seen lots of really cute paper clips: paper clips that are shaped like things, paper clips that are different colors, and paper clips that have cute characters or shapes on the top of them.  I decided to try my hand at making some cute clips myself that I could use in my gratitude journal, journaling Bible, or planner, and they turned out really well!  Today I'm going to show you how to make some for yourself using your Sizzix BIGkick and scrap paper.
Learn how to easily make inexpensive handmade planner clips using scrapbook paper! www.pitterandglink.com
You can make lots of planner clips inexpensively in a short amount of time, and if you create a tasseled tag like I did to go along with the clips, you can even give them as gifts to fellow planner girls or Bible journalers.

Embossed Metal Squirrel Fall Charm Bracelet

This post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  It has finally started to feel a little like fall here in the South.  The leaves are changing, and it's even getting a little cooler.  This weather change inspired my latest jewelry project: an Embossed Metal Squirrel Fall Charm Bracelet.
Embossed Metal Squirrel Fall Charm Bracelet. www.pitterandglink.com
We don't get much of a fall here in the South.  It often goes from sweltering hot to cold, but when we do get a day that feels like fall, I enjoy it so much!  This bracelet is an homage to those beautiful, enjoyable days.  I love the maple leaf and acorn, and the squirrel is just too cute!  I made this super-easy jewelry project in no time using my Sizzix BIGkick and Vintaj metal dies and blanks.

Evergreen Christmas Tree Necklace & A Giveaway

Hey, y'all!  This weekend my latest tutorial went live on the Sizzix blog.  I'm showing you how to make an Evergreen Christmas Tree Necklace complete with watercolor gift tag "packaging."  Yes, I know that it seems a bit early to be thinking about Christmas already, but I know for a fact that the holiday can creep up on us crafters so fast that we don't have time to get all our Christmas crafting done.  The great thing about this project is that it's really easy to make.  And to help you make your own, later in the post I'm giving way two of the dies I used to make this project!

Watercolor is a big trend in crafting and design now, so I love how the gift tag takes the pretty necklace to a whole new level.  I mean, who wouldn't be excited to open this gift?!  You can find the full tutorial for the necklace and gift tag HERE.
