Hand-Lettered Elf Food Groups T-Shirt + Free Cut File
This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all! Are you starting to get into the holiday spirit yet? I can't wait for Thanksgiving, but I'm most excited for Christmas! I went to the Southern Christmas Show this weekend, and I have been listening to Christmas music, and, yes, I've even watched a Christmas movie already. I adore Christmas movies, and one of my favorites is Elf. Last week, I watched Elf, and while watching it, I hand-lettered the four main elf food groups. Why? So I could make a cool Elf-Inspired t-shirt with some festive heat transfer vinyl sent to me by Expressions Vinyl! And as usual, I'm sharing the free cut file with you so that you can make your own. As if that wasn't enough awesomeness for one post, I'm also teaming up with the oh-so-talented Alexis of Persia Lou and twenty one other fabulous bloggers to share some really awesome vinyl posts with you in anticipation of Alexis's brand new vinyl course that she's created for Craftsy. AND--that's right, I'm not done yet--there is a FABULOUS giveaway at the end of the post!
Let's get started with this elf food groups tee tutorial so that you can whip yourself up one for the holidays!

DIY Graphic Tee Using HTV
When it comes to exercising, I prefer to work up a sweat crafting. Honestly though, I barely broke a sweat making this fun tee. You can make your own too, and the best part is you need minimal supplies.

DIY "Make Pretty Things" Graphic Tee
Side Note: Photographing metallic lettering on a tee is hard work, y'all. Acting like a goofball because I don't always know how to pose in front of the camera is not. ;)

{T-Shirt Scarf}
With the holiday season upon us, we all want to look our best for different events. Even though I want to look my best, I hate to sacrifice the comfort of a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. When I go to a family gathering, I like to wear a little more than a t-shirt and jeans, though. Recently, I wanted to wear this comfy outfit to a family gathering, but as you can see, it's just too plain.
I had on cute red flats with the outfit, but that just wasn't enough to "spruce it up." Then I thought of something!
I remembered I had pinned some ideas for scarves made out of t-shirts. They didn't even involve sewing! So I quickly went to Wal-mart to buy a t-shirt.
I followed directions online to make a no-sew scarf, much like the tutorial found here from Chambanachik, and this is what I ended up with.
It was cute, but I felt that a scarf like that needed to be longer so that I could wrap it around once. I mean, I didn't want anyone to say, "Hey, why are you wearing a huge tube top around your neck?" So I consulted Pinterest again and reworked the scarf using these directions from Shwin&Shwin.
The second time was the charm! I like this version much better. I'm not sure if it looks more like a scarf or a big necklace, but I like it. (My sister asked me which one it was, but she said she liked it too.) Both scarves were super easy and quick to make. And I ended up being comfortable and {maybe} stylish at my family gathering. Whenever you need that something to add to your outfit, do a quick Pinterest search, and you just might find that something you were looking for that you can make yourself for cheap! :)

School Spirit Shirt
Hi, everyone! It's been a while. School started, and I got super busy! And while I have stacks of papers to grade at this very moment, I just had to post this project because it's just been too long since I've posted on here!
Fridays at my school are casual days. We can wear jeans if we donate a couple dollars to the Relay for Life. (A very good cause, might I add!) Everyone always likes to support the football team on Fridays too. I went to a local store to buy a school t-shirt to wear this Friday, but they hardly had any shirts to choose from. So I decided to make my own!
I stopped by Wal-mart on the way home from school Thursday and picked up these supplies.
I bought a $5 t-shirt, two spools of ribbon (I already had one to use at home.), matching thread, and buttons. Of course, I had scissors already.
