Hey, y'all!  Do you realize how long it's been since I last shared a jewelry tutorial?!  Wayyyy too long!  So today I'm remedying that.  Using some of the new Sizzix jewelry-making tools, I'm showing you how to easily make these DIY Leather Teardrop Earrings.
Ten Minute Leather Teardrop Earrings
These earrings are so stylish and can be made in about ten minutes.  You read that right: ten minutes! And with all the yummy leather colors that Sizzix has to offer, you can make a pair of these to match any outfit.
10 Minute Leather Earrings DIY Supplies
To get started making your own leather teardrop earrings, you'll need a few supplies.
Supplies:

Movers and Shapers Shuttle Cutting Leather
Step One:

Place one of the Movers & Shapers Magnetic Dies onto the Movers & Shapers Shuttle.  Place your leather face down on top of the die.  Since the dies are magnetic, they will stick to the shuttle without shifting, which makes cutting leather really easy.
Cutting Leather Sizzix Big Shot

Step Two:

Cover the leather with a standard size cutting pad and roll your Sizzix sandwich through your Big Shot.  Repeat so that you have a pair of matching leather teardrops.
Punching Holes in Leather Teardrop Earrings

Step Three:

Once you have your leather teardrops cut, it's time to punch holes in them so that you'll have a place to thread your earring wires.  Find the top center of each leather teardrop and, using a leather punch, punch a hole.
Opening Metal Earring Wires

Step Four:

Use your jewelry pliers to open the loop on an earring wire.

Step Five:

Thread the earring wire through the hole in the top of the leather teardrop and use your jewelry pliers to close the loop on the earring wire. Repeat for the second earring, and your leather teardrop earrings will be complete.
DIY Leather Teardrop Earrings Pink Bronze
I made two pairs of large teardrop earrings: one using pink leather and one using metallic bronze leather.  The colors are so pretty!

And the leather is buttery soft.

But my favorite thing about the earrings is how light they are.  If you've stopped wearing larger earrings because they're too heavy and stretch out your earring holes, these are the earrings you need. They are light as a feather!  Seriously, it's like you're not even wearing any earrings at all.

Now I just need to make myself a pair in every leather color.  (The metallic gold leather is calling my name!)
Lightweight DIY Leather Teardrop Earrings Tutorial
I have to say that I was a little nervous about making jewelry with leather.  It seemed so intimidating, but after actually doing it, I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.  And now I can't wait to see what other leather projects I can dream up with the new Sizzix jewelry line!
