My Five Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products

This post contains affiliate links.  Thanks for supporting Pitter & Glink!
Hey, y'all!  I feel like it's been forever since I posted something new here!  If you follow me on Instagram, you know that at the end of October, my husband and I adopted a beautiful baby boy, so my life recently has been filled with diaper changes, feedings, and trying to get sleep when possible.  I haven't had much time for being creative, but I'm starting to somewhat get the hang of things, and I hope to have some new creative tutorials coming in the near future.  Besides being creative, I also LOVE makeup, and I love to share products I like with people over on Instagram.  I recently did a poll asking if people would like me to write a post about my favorite drugstore makeup products, and the answer was YES.  That's what today's post is all about: my five favorite drugstore makeup products!
My 5 Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products
I'm going to write about each product and why I love it.  I should mention before I get started that every face and skin type is different, so something I love might not necessarily work for you, so please don't get angry with me if you try a product and it just doesn't work for you.  When I talk about the products, I'm going to link to them using affiliate links.  If you choose to purchase a product through my link, a small part of the purchase price will go toward helping to support my blog at no extra cost to you.  (Thanks!)  But you can find the products in stores like Walmart, Target, and CVS too, so shop wherever you like.  Okay...on to the products!
My Five Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products

Product #1: L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

I LOVE a good mascara, and for a while, I was wearing Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara.  (Yes, that's really the name, so I hope it doesn't offend anyone!)  That mascara is FABULOUS, but it is a bit pricey.  This L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara is a drugstore dupe for the Too Faced mascara, and it's a fraction of the cost!  The mascara lengthens and thickens my lashes, and I think it works really well for the price.

Product #2: NYX Professional Makeup Studio Translucent Finishing Powder

Ever since I started wearing makeup, I have always worn a powder that matches my skin tone over the top of my foundation.  Recently through the awesomeness of YouTube and InstaStories, I discovered translucent powder, so I decided to give it a try, and I immediately fell in love.  Why do I like this powder so much?  With the powder I used to use, I always felt like my makeup was still almost tacky feeling.  This NYX Translucent Finishing Powder immediately takes away that feeling, sets my foundation, and gives my face a matte look, which I love.  (Just a heads up, though: if you have super dry skin, you probably won't like this product.)

Product #3: Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably have noticed a trend with my makeup: I am OBSESSED with lipstick.  I don't know if this was born from the fact that my grandmother always wore red lipstick (and constantly reapplied it to keep it looking fresh), but I don't really feel like myself if I'm not wearing a bold lip color.  My favorite drugstore lipstick is by far the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick.  I have two colors: Romantic (30), which is a bright pink, and Pioneer (20), which is a bright red.  This liquid lipstick dries matte, and it stays put all day long!  Seriously...I've worn it all day and it stayed looking fresh all. day. long.  Part of the reason why it stays so well is that it does dry matte, so if you feel that it becomes dry during the day, just pop some gloss like NYX Butter Gloss over the top.

Product #4: NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

In my opinion when it comes to makeup, nothing is worse that having awesome looking makeup in the morning, only to look in the mirror in the afternoon to find an almost bare face because your makeup came off!  This is why I believe in setting spray, and I feel that the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray is a great product for the price.  Once you finish your makeup in the morning, mist your face with the spray to help extend the wear of your makeup.  A setting spray is like hair spray for your face!  (I've actually heard of people spraying hair spray on their face, but please don't do that, y'all!  This product isn't all that expensive, and it's actually for your face.)  Oh, and if you prefer a dewy look instead of a matte look, NYX has a spray for that too; it's the NYX Professional Makeup Dewy Finish Setting Spray.

Product #5: NYX Highlight and Contour Wonder Stick

Apparently, contour is where it's at with makeup, and while I love makeup, I don't have the time to spend hours chiseling out my cheek bones and slimming my nose.  But I do have time for the NYX Wonder Stick.  This product has a highlight on one end and a contour on the other.  I simply draw on my face where I want to contour and highlight and then blend it out with a beauty blender.  This product does dry a little tacky, but I set it with my translucent powder, and I'm good to go!

So that's it, y'all: my five favorite drugstore makeup products!  Have you tried any of these products? If so, did you like them?  And please share with me in the comments your favorite drugstore products because I love to try new makeup!!!

  1. I think I'm going to try your mascara! Thanks for the tip! Also, does the finishing spray really work? Have you compared your face when you haven't used the spray? Just curious. -Jen
