How to Make Sparkly Cupcake Planner Clips

Hey, y'all!  Happy May!  I LOVE May.  It's the last month of school, AND it's my birthday month!  You could say that I think May is pretty sweet, which leads me to today's project tutorial.  Today I want to show you how I made some sparkly cupcake clippies perfect for using in my planner or journaling Bible.  These clips can be made quickly and easily, and they're just so cute!

The fun thing about these clips is that you can use any scrapbook paper you'd like and any embellishments you'd like to customize these to your own style.

To begin making your clips, you need to cut out your paper cupcake pieces.  To do so, place one of the Standard Size Cutting Pads on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform.  Place the Cupcake Triplits on to of that.  Cover with paper and the other Standard Size Cutting Pad and roll through your Sizzix BIGkick.

Repeat the above process as many times as necessary to create different color and pattern combinations for your cupcakes.  Note: It helps to have a Die Pick to remove paper from the Triplits. Once you have enough cupcake pieces, it's time to jazz them up a bit.

To add interest to your cupcake pieces, you can use distress ink and an applicator to brush color on the edges of the paper pieces.  You can also trace the edges of the pieces with a marker and stamp words on the cupcakes as well.  Adding brush on glitter to the "frosting" is so fun, along with adding chunky glitter for "sprinkles."  Once your cupcakes are all blinged out, glue the pieces together with a glue stick.  If you want to make sure that your cupcakes will be durable, you can laminate them like I did.  Then it's time to add the clips.

Select several jumbo paperclips that coordinate with your cupcake colors.  Put a blob of hot glue on the back of each cupcake and stick a paperclip in the blob.  Cover with a felt scrap to finish off the back.  If you don't like the look of the felt, you can always use one of the whole cupcake cutouts (#4 from the set) and glue it to the back of the clip.

And that's it!  I told you it was easy.

I think my favorite thing about the cupcakes are the glitter sprinkles because, let's face it, I LOVE glitter!

And I love that I could use different paper to create totally different clips to match any planner color scheme I choose, or I could add one of these cuties to one of the Bible journaling entries.  So fun!  What would you use a cupcake paper clip for?
