Creating a Fun & Eclectic TV Gallery Wall

As a brand ambassador for Graham & Brown, I received product to use in this post, but as usual, all opinions are mine.
Hey, y'all!  Today's post was a long time coming.  At least two years ago, I decided to tackle making over my living room.  I was tired of spending so much time in a blah room just waiting on my next house where everything would, in my mind, be perfect.  So makeover the living room I did, but I've never shared the room here on the blog.  Blame it on my perfectionism or blame in on my tendency not to finish projects that frustrate me--whatever the reason, the room isn't 100% finished.  Don't get me wrong, it looks sooooo much better than it did before, but it's just not, well, perfect.  Luckily, I was asked to be a brand ambassador for Graham & Brown to highlight design trends for 2015, and that was just the push I needed to finish my TV gallery wall.
Before & After: A Media Wall Makeover Featuring an Eclectic Gallery www.pitterandglink.com
Combining the work I had already done with a fun decor piece from Graham & Brown, I was able to put together an eclectic media gallery wall, and even though it's not perfect because I struggle with styling flat surfaces, it's finished.  And sometimes finished is better than the perfect that is never going to happen.  Am I right?
Of course, I just have to show you how the wall looked before so that you can truly appreciate how it looks now.  A couple of years ago, my media wall looked totally boring and somewhat weird.  The furniture was off scale and the wall decor was lacking to say the least.  But now...

My media gallery wall looks COMPLETELY different.  You see even though I struggle with perfectionism and getting things "just right," I don't suffer from being scared to take risks in my decor.  I hope that I do things in my home that make others want to be brave with their own decor.  When I read about Graham & Brown's Eureka trend, I knew that my tv gallery wall completely fit the definition--“The Eureka trend is a chance to create, delight and wonder, offering the opportunity to inspire others through your own interior design ventures. Creating a sudden, unexpected realisation to all those who enter the doors to your humble abode on how they can represent their own characteristics with colour and vibrancy. “

There's so much of my personality on this wall, and I'd like to think some of my husband's personality as well.  Y'all know that if it were up to me, I'd have a pink and girly living room, but even though my husband is great about letting me do whatever I want decor-wise in the house, I like to try to create rooms that he'll like too.  I like to decorate with blue, and since hubby is a huge Clemson Tigers fan, he likes orange.  Mixing the two in a living room color scheme might not be everyone's cup of tea, but we like it, and I think it works.  I hope that it encourages others to decorate with whatever colors make them happy.  I also hope that it shows people that it's okay to have fun with pattern on a large scale.  Hubby and I painted a large, bold herringbone pattern on the wall, and it adds lots of interest to the wall.

When it comes to the gallery, there are lots of things that represent both my husband and I--our initials, pictures of our nieces and our dog Daisy, as well as an inspirational quote and a watercolor painting of a local church.  Yeah, it's a weird, eclectic mix, but it's fun and shows our personality.

The Lit Arrow Wall Art from Graham & Brown is a perfect complement to the other pieces hanging on the gallery wall, and how fun is it that the arrow actually lights up?  I love that it's battery operated, so I don't have to worry about an unsightly cord.

The eclectic wall decor is balanced by the rustic TV console my dad and I built.  And since we built it together, the piece has sentimental value, which is another thing that's important to me when it comes to decor.  So next time you get ready to decorate a room, think about decor that is a little outside of the box--decor that shows your personality and features sentimental pieces and colors that you like.  Don't worry about pleasing other people because they don't live in your house; you do!  And who knows?  Next time friends visit your newly decorated room, you might just inspire their own "Eureka" moment.
