{Valentine Rings}

Hello, Ladies!  I have an easy Valentine craft for you today.  Valentine's Day and jewelry go together like peas and carrots.  (Or Forrest and Jenny...)  On Valentine's Day I love to wear red and something with hearts on it.  So this year, I made myself a heart ring to wear.  You can make one for yourself with just a few supplies and a few easy steps.  (There are other tutorials floating around the internet for these, so I just did a short and sweet tutorial for my version.)

Glass gems
Mod Podge
Ring backs

Here's how to make your own...
1.  Cut hearts out of paper.  I used a heart paper punch to make things easy.  Helpful Hint:  I've found that thinner paper works better for this.
2.  Trace a clear glass gem onto paper that you would like to be your backing for the ring and cut it out.
3.  Use Mod Podge to adhere the heart onto the flat side of the glass gem.  When that dries, use more Mod Podge to adhere the paper circle on top of the heart.  After that is dry, cover the back with a few coats of Mod Podge.
4.  Attach a ring back to the glass gem using E-6000.  (Follow the directions on the glue.)
Then it's time to enjoy your brand new ring!

I made three rings.  I just may share them with some special people in my life... :)

My favorite is the book page one with the red heart.  The heart was cut out of sparkly paper!

The sock monkey one is cute, but there are places where the Mod Podge dried where you can kind of see it.  I guess the best way to describe it is that it looks "splotchy" in a few places.  I have seen a tutorial where someone used Dimensional Magic to adhere paper to a glass gem when they were creating a silhouette pendant.  That may keep away the splotches, but I don't know.

The pink one is cute because it's pink.  It's hard not to love something pink.  The paper used on this one was thinner, so it has the least splotchy look of the three.

The red heart book page one definitely will be the one I wear on Valentine's Day.  It will go great with my new red sweater.  (By the way, thanks for the new sweater, mom!)  I love how the rings can be adapted to match pretty much anything.  The possibilities are endless, so if you don't want to make a Valentine's Day ring, make one for everyday or another holiday.  :)
