Thrift Store Frame Makeover

I love to go to thrift stores to find items to Pitter and Glink!  One thing I always look for is wooden picture frames.  Frames made of real wood are rather expensive nowadays, but you can get a used one from a thrift store for a few dollars.  And you can do so many different things with these cast-offs!  Mom 4 Real linked up an awesome idea to my Pinkerific Party for Breast Cancer Awareness, which is still going on for a few more days by the way.  She used frames to make her own dry erase board.  Recently, I found this little gem and decided to use Mom 4 Real's idea.
After taking out the frame's glass (and snapping the picture above!), I spray painted my frame a yummy shade of pink: Krylon's Watermelon.
I then cut a piece of poster board the size of the glass.  I applied a piece of burlap to the poster board with spray adhesive.
I gathered letters to spell "To Do" from a punch out letter pad.  I also found some shapes I previously cut with my Silhouette that I thought would look great in my frame.
I inked the letters with my black ink pad to make them look aged.  I stuck them to the burlap covered poster board with double-stick tape.  (I knew the glass would hold them in place after the paper was placed in the frame.)  After I placed the burlap covered paper in the frame, I hot glued rhinestones over the glass in the middle of each circle.
I made some fabric and felt roses and hot glued them to the glass as well.
And then my dry erase board was all done and ready for my "To Do" list!
I simply wrote my list with a regular dry erase marker.
Maybe now I can stay a bit more organized if I can just resist the temptation to draw on the board for fun! :)

  9. This is really awesome! Wooden picture frames are really providing a classic touch to the pictures. Wooden picture frames are very much used for decoration and protecting the pictures. These are enhancing the picture beauty many times for sure.

  10. That turned out so well! I've seen lots of these around the internet, but I really like your color choices and how you used the rosettes to add a 3-D effect! I'd be thrilled if you'd share it here:

  14. What type of pen do you use for writing on the glass? How do you erase or clean off the special pen? Will it clean off with something like Windex?
